Operated by The World of Icelandic Music

The World of Icelandic Music is an audio-guided immersive exhibition just inside the main entrance of Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík. Follow over a thousand years of Icelandic music history, from the chanted rímur of long winter nights to the birth of the national anthem in 1874 and the breakthrough year of 1930.
Archive recordings, original soundscapes and striking visuals bring the story to life. Flip through the TV channels of the 1980s, the decade when all eyes turned to Iceland, and meet the artists who carried Icelandic music far beyond the island's shores: The Sugarcubes with Björk, Sigur Rós, Of Monsters and Men and Laufey.
Then test your conducting skills with a filmed performance by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
Based on an original Icelandic script by acclaimed author Þórarinn Eldjárn, with original music by Úlfur Eldjárn. Self-paced, indoors and approx. 45 minutes.
