Since late 2023, multiple eruptions have forced the evacuation of residents, leaving the town largely deserted. The streets are empty, with few families having returned briefly to retrieve belongings, though most are still living in temporary accommodations. The infrastructure, including homes and roads, shows signs of damage from lava flows and seismic shifts.
