Get off the beaten path on a private 4x4 adventure just outside Reykjavík. Your guide will lead you along fun, challenging off-road trails with sweeping views of the dramatic landscape surrounding the capital.

How it works

Your 4x4 guide will meet you at the Volcano Trails office, or pick you up from your accommodation in Reykjavík. Once everyone is settled in, you'll head to the trails, only a 5-minute drive from our HQ and about 15 minutes from the city.

Out on the trails, you'll explore Icelandic nature in a private Land Rover Defender with friends or family, tackling rugged terrain and getting a real taste of off-road driving. Halfway through, we'll stop to take photos and soak in the views.

Good to know

This tour runs in all weather. You'll be seated inside the vehicle, sheltered from the elements and from any splashes when we cross rivers, so there's no need for heavy overalls or helmets. We do recommend warm clothing, a hat, gloves and sturdy shoes, especially outside the summer months.

You're welcome to arrive at the starting point by your own car or private taxi, or you can add our pick-up and drop-off service from hotels and other locations in Reykjavík when you book.
