Voladalstorfa á við móbergshamra yst á Tjörnesi, við svokallaða Tjörnestá. Hún er skráð á náttúruminjaskrá Norðausturlands, ásamt strandlengju og sjávarbökkum á vestanverðu Tjörnesi vegna merkra jarðminja. Í bökkum eru „þykk setlög frá tertíer og ísöld með skeljum og surtarbrandi.“ Við Voladalstorfu er auk þess mikil fuglabyggð (1) sem dregur til sín mikinn fjölda ferðamanna á ári hverju (2).
