„Í fjörborðinu fyrir neðan bæinn Skarð á vestanverðu Vatnsnesi er heit uppspretta eða hver sem er um eða yfir 73°C heitur. Hverinn var á árum áður nýttur til að hita upp gróðurhús sem stóð heima við bæ. Engin dæla var við hverinn, en kalt vatn ofan við bæinn var leitt í pípu niður að hvernum og þrýsti það heita vatninu, sem er léttara en það kalda, upp í húsið.“
