Laugarvatnshellar

Laugarvatnshellar are two sandstone caves in Reyðarbarmur near Laugarvatn. They were used for livestock and later adapted for human habitation, making them an unusual example of people turning natural shelter into a home. Old carvings and traces of domestic use remain visible. The caves are a cultural-history site rather than a lava-tube attraction.
