During the Second World War, thousands of Allied personnel were stationed in and around Reyðarfjörður. Military camps, roads, storage areas and logistics infrastructure changed the community and connected the fjord directly to North Atlantic wartime operations. The museum preserves photographs, objects and personal stories from this period.
The Icelandic Wartime Museum in Reyðarfjörður presents the history of the Allied military occupation during the Second World War and the changes it brought to the local community.
