Hringsbjarg

Hringsbjarg is an easily accessible viewpoint on the eastern side of the Tjörnes peninsula in North Iceland. From the large viewing platform, the landscape opens across Öxarfjörður toward its mountain ranges, while a dark beach and rugged coastal slopes add contrast below. The stop is designed for travellers on Route 85, with parking and information on site, so it works well as a short break between Húsavík, Tjörnes and the Jökulsárgljúfur area. The cliffs around Hringsbjarg also support substantial birdlife, making the viewpoint particularly interesting during the nesting season. Although it is a simple roadside stop, Hringsbjarg gives useful geographic context for the transition from the Tjörnes coast into the broad lowlands around Öxarfjörður. On clear days the combination of sea, black shoreline and distant mountains makes it one of the most rewarding easy-access viewpoints on this stretch of the Arctic Coast Way.
