About Blöndustöð
„Blöndustöð var tekin í notkun árið 1991. Hún stendur á brún norðanverðs hálendisins við enda Kjalvegar. Í norðurátt er sýn niður í Blöndudal þar sem áin Blanda rennur til sjávar við Blönduós. Blöndustöð er neðanjarðarstöð, rúmlega 230 m undir yfirborði jarðar. Blanda var stífluð við Reftjarnarbungu en þar voru góðar aðstæður til miðlunar. Jafnframt var reist stífla við upptök Kolkukvíslar en hún féll í Vatnsdalsá. Með þessum stíflum myndaðist Blöndulón sem hefur um 412 Gl miðlunarrými og er þriðja stærsta stöðuvatn á Íslandi.“
