Hinir þjóðþekktu Bakkabræður koma frá Bakka. Þjóðsagan segir að á bæ þeim er á Bakka heitir í Svarfaðardal hafi búið bóndi einn fyrir löngu. Hann átti þrjá syni Gísla, Eirík og Helga og voru þeir orðlagðir fyrir heimsku. Margar sögur hafa farið af heimskupörum þeirra.
