Silfra Fissure – Snorkelling & Diving

About Silfra Fissure – Snorkelling & Diving

Silfra is a water-filled tectonic fissure in Þingvellir National Park where you can snorkel or dive directly between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The glacial meltwater passes through porous lava rock for decades before emerging at Silfra, filtered to exceptional clarity — visibility exceeds 100 metres, making it one of the clearest water bodies on earth. The water temperature is 2–4°C year-round. Guided tours depart daily from Þingvellir.
