Dalvík is a small town in Eyjafjörður known for its whale watching tours on the fjord — one of Iceland's best for encounters with large baleen whales including humpbacks and minkes. The town also has a quirky natural history museum featuring a famous exhibit on Iceland's tallest man (Jóhann Kristinn Pétursson, 234 cm). The annual Fish Day (Fiskidagurinn mikli) in August serves free fish soup and fish dishes to thousands of visitors. The surrounding mountains offer excellent hiking in summer and skiing in winter.
