The church is located in the centre of Vík village, accessible via a short uphill walk or drive. Story & Folklore
The church was built in 1932-34 and is perched on the highest point in Vík. According to local plans, in the event of a catastrophic eruption from nearby Katla volcano, the church hill is designated as the emergency gathering point for villagers.
