About Stórurð Boulder Field
Stórurð (The Giant Boulders) is one of Iceland's most dramatic and least-visited hiking destinations — a valley floor filled with house-sized boulders tumbled from the Dyrfjöll cliff face, interspersed with turquoise glacial lakes and alpine meadows. The hike from Borgarfjörður Eystri is 12 km return (4–5 hours) through mountain terrain. The boulders, some as large as buildings, create an otherworldly labyrinth that feels completely unlike anywhere else in Iceland.
