The Snæfellsnes Peninsula offers one of Iceland's most varied and rewarding scenic drives — a roughly 200 km circuit around the peninsula taking in black sand beaches, glacier views, fishing villages, sea cliffs, lava fields, waterfalls and one of the world's most iconic mountains. The drive can be done in a long day from Reykjavík (3.5 hours each way) but is best enjoyed over 2 days. The south side is more dramatic; the north side passes the famous Kirkjufell and Berserkjahraun.
