Requirements: - Snorkeling: Minimum age 12, must be comfortable in water - Diving: Minimum age 17, open water certification required - All participants wear drysuits The experience takes 2-3 hours including preparation and briefing. The actual snorkel/dive lasts about 30-45 minutes.
📖 Story
Silfra was formed by the gradual separation of the tectonic plates. The water is glacial meltwater from Langjökull glacier, filtered through underground lava rock for decades before emerging in Silfra. This filtration process makes it some of the clearest water on Earth. The water temperature is 2-4°C year-round, requiring a drysuit for snorkeling or diving.
