Reykjadalur is accessed via a hiking trail from a parking area 5 km east of Hveragerði. The trail is 3.5 km one way (7 km round trip) with moderate elevation gain. At the river, there are changing facilities and wooden platforms for entering the water. The temperature ranges from 37-43°C depending on where you bathe. Bring: - Swimwear - Towel - Hiking boots - Water and snacks The trail can be icy in winter — microspikes recommended.

Reykjadalur has been a popular bathing spot for Icelanders for decades. The hike to the river takes about 45-60 minutes through a scenic valley with steaming vents and grazing sheep. Once at the river, you can choose your temperature — the water gets warmer the further upstream you go.
