Reykholt Cultural Centre
About Reykholt Cultural Centre
Reykholt in Borgarfjörður was the home of the great medieval scholar Snorri Sturluson and remains a major cultural centre. The Snorrastofa research institute and exhibition centre covers Snorri's literary legacy — the Prose Edda, the Heimskringla and the Egils Saga. Snorri's preserved hot pool (Snorralaug) dates to around 1200 AD and is considered Iceland's oldest man-made structure still in use. The cultural centre also hosts concerts and events in a striking modern building.
