Many of these saga sites can still be visited today, standing as silent witnesses to the dramatic events recorded in the ancient texts. From the saga: "Hann bjó í Örnólfsdal. (9) Svo er sagt að þegar er náttaði ríða þeir Þorvaldur að bænum í Örnólfsdal. (9) Ríða þeir nú í Örnólfsdal og koma þar fyrir dag. (13) Fer Gunnar í Örnólfsdal en Hersteinn tekur Gunnarsstaði. (13) Eftir þetta lætur Gunnar færa til sín vestan við þann allan sem Örn austmaður hafði átt og flytja heim í Örnólfsdal. (15) Fer hann þá í Örnólfsdal. (16) Gunnar Hlífarson situr nú í Örnólfsdal og hefir húsað vel. (16) Hann kemur í Örnólfsdal um farinn veg og gengur inn í tjaldið til Jófríðar. (17) Það var einn dag að Oddur segir að eigi mundi illa fallið að hafa nokkurar landsnytjar af Örnólfsdal „þar er aðrir menn hafa sest á eigur mínar að röngu.“ (17) Og er þeir koma að garði í Örnólfsdal er Gunnar að gera hlass."
