About Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths
Laugarvatn Fontana is a modern geothermal spa on the shores of Lake Laugarvatn, midway along the Golden Circle route. Natural steam vents from the lakeshore directly beneath the bathhouse, feeding three outdoor geothermal pools, a steam room and a sauna with a lake view. The spa offers traditional Icelandic rye bread baked underground in the hot earth, which can be eaten fresh with Icelandic butter and salmon. The village of Laugarvatn was historically a bathing site for medieval bishops travelling to Þingvellir.
