Hvítserkur Sea Stack
About Hvítserkur Sea Stack
Rising from the waters of Húnaflói Bay, Hvítserkur is one of Iceland's most photogenic rock formations. The 15-meter high basalt stack has been shaped by wind and waves into a form that resembles different creatures depending on the angle - some see a dragon, others an elephant. White bird droppings give it its name, which means 'White Shirt.' The base has been reinforced with concrete to prevent erosion.
