From the saga: "Egils saga (28) Grími hinum háleyska gaf hann bústað fyrir sunnan Borgarfjörð, þar er kallað var á Hvanneyri; þar skammt út frá skarst inn vík ein eigi mikil; fundu þeir þar andir margar og kölluðu Andakíl, en Andakílsá, er þar féll til sjóvar.Vatnsdæla saga (10) Grímur sigldi út um sumarið og báðir þeir bræður, komu í Borgar fjörð og lögðu inn að Hvanneyri. (14) Ingimundur fór á Hvanneyri, kona hans og synir en lið hans var þar allt umhverfis."
