About Dyrfjöll Mountains
Dyrfjöll (Door Mountains) is a dramatic mountain range in East Iceland named for a striking window of sky visible through a natural gap (Stórurð) in the cliff face. At 1,136 m the peaks are among the highest in East Iceland and offer exceptional multi-day hiking. The Víknaslóðir hiking trail connects Borgarfjörður Eystri to Seyðisfjörður through this spectacular alpine landscape. The Stórurð boulder field below the mountains is one of Iceland's most photogenic hiking destinations.
