Djúpivogur Harbour Village
About Djúpivogur Harbour Village
Djúpivogur is a charming small fishing village at the southern end of the Eastfjords on Berufjörður bay. The old harbour has colourful boats and a striking public art installation — 'Eggin í Gleðivík' (Eggs of Merry Bay) — 34 large stone eggs representing the seabird species that nest in the area. The village has cafés, a hotel and is a gateway to Papey island, a small uninhabited island with Iceland's oldest wooden structure and a large puffin colony.
