About Bolungarvík & Ósvör Maritime Museum
Bolungarvík is a small fishing town at the northern end of the Ísafjarðardjúp bay, connected to Ísafjörður by a 4.8 km tunnel. The town is home to the Ósvör Maritime Museum, an open-air reconstruction of a traditional rowboat fishing station showing how Icelandic fishermen worked and lived in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The surrounding mountains offer superb hiking and the Bolafjall mountain (638 m) above the town has a radar station with panoramic views of the Westfjords.
