The museum combines Icelandic folklore with genuine historical accounts and artistic interpretations of the various creatures reportedly seen in these waters. The adjacent bay, Arnarfjörður, remains one of Iceland's most scenic fjords with dramatic mountain walls and occasional whale sightings.
