About Álfhólsvegur (Elf Road) Kópavogur
In 2013, construction of a new road near Reykjavík was halted when workers reported equipment malfunctions after disturbing a large boulder believed to be an elf church. After consulting with an elf seer, the road was rerouted around the rock, which still stands today. The story made international headlines and reinforced Iceland's unique relationship with hidden people folklore.
