Why ride an electric mountain bike in Iceland?

Electric mountain bikes make Iceland's volcanic terrain accessible to almost anyone. The motor assists while pedaling, allowing you to climb hills comfortably and spend more time enjoying the scenery instead of worrying about fitness.

Do I need prior mountain biking experience?

No.
This tour only requires basic cycling skills and average fitness, but no particular mountain biking skills. Please note that you are responsible for letting our guide know of any health condition that would require specific attention before starting the tour.

Can I ride if I haven't used an e-bike before?

Yes.
Electric bikes provide electric assistance that reduces rider fatigue while still providing a natural riding experience. We will introduce you to the use of electric mountain bikes before the tour and make sure you quickly get the hang of it. Have fun!

What should I wear?

Typically, outdoor hiking gear and sturdy shoes.
More precisely, we recommend dressing using the three-layer rule. Your first layer should be breathable, your second layer should be warm and breathable, and your third layer should be waterproof, windproof and breathable. Typically, a merino wool or technical shirt, a wool fleece and a Gore-Tex-type outer layer are ideal.

What happens if it rains?

Usually we ride, and in rare cases of extreme weather the tour is cancelled and refunded.
Weather in Iceland is unpredictable, and it is better to be prepared for anything, including wind and rain. Assuming that you are properly dressed, the tour will still go ahead, but our expert guides might adjust the route to keep the experience fun by riding the most sheltered trails in the area.

How fit do I need to be?

The newcomer tour requires only basic fitness.Thanks to the electric assistance of our e-mountain bikes, fatigue is limited. Just focus on the ride and the amazing Icelandic experience ;)

What's included?

Booking the beginner tour comes with the full experience. 

We are the only mountain bike tour company offering free pick-up and drop-off in the Greater Reykjavík area with every tour. We provide high-quality Specialized Turbo Levo full-suspension electric mountain bikes as well as helmets in different sizes.
The tour is guided by experienced local guides who will happily take care of your safety, give you basic riding tips, introduce you to the handling of electric bikes, provide local knowledge and take photos of your riding adventures so that you bring unforgettable memories home.
At the end of the tour, a complimentary beverage can be enjoyed either on our lovely deck by the woods or inside the cozy bar of our partner company, Íshestar.

Are helmets provided?

Yes.
We provide high-quality Specialized helmets. We have helmets to fit every rider: S, M, L and XL sizes are available.
