Sun Voyagerについて

Iconic stainless-steel sculpture on Reykjavík’s Sæbraut waterfront.

One of Reykjavík’s signature waterfront landmarks, with open views toward Mount Esja.

背景

歴史と背景

Sólfar, also known as the Sun Voyager, is a prominent stainless steel sculpture. It is located on the Sæbraut waterfront in Reykjavík, Iceland. Its creation and placement have established it as a significant landmark in the capital region.

Sun Voyager, known in Icelandic as Sólfar, stands on Reykjavík’s Sæbraut waterfront facing Faxaflói and Mount Esja. The stainless-steel work by Jón Gunnar Árnason is often mistaken for a Viking ship, but it was conceived as a dreamboat and an ode to the sun. Its open waterfront setting makes it especially popular around sunrise, sunset and clear winter evenings. The sculpture is free to visit and fits naturally into a walk between Harpa and the eastern waterfront.
