SI-152 was part of the fishing fleet that operated from Siglufjörður during the 20th century, when the town became internationally known for its herring industry. Although no longer active, the vessel remains at the harbour slipway as a visible reminder of the town’s maritime past.

SI-152 is a historic fishing boat located by the old slipway in Siglufjörður in North Iceland. The vessel represents the town's close connection to the sea and the fishing industry that shaped Siglufjörður through much of the 20th century. During the great herring era, Siglufjörður became one of Iceland's busiest fishing centres. Boats, processing plants and seasonal workers transformed the town, and harbour activity continued around the clock during the height of the fishery. Working vessels like SI-152 were part of the everyday infrastructure that supported that economy and the families who depended on it. Today SI-152 is no longer a working boat, but its position beside the historic slipway makes it an accessible piece of maritime heritage. It is best appreciated together with the harbour, the old industrial buildings and the Herring Era Museum, which provide the wider story of the boom-and-bust years that shaped modern Siglufjörður.
