Laki is a mountain within the Lakagígar area, distinct from the crater row itself. Vatnajökull National Park describes a marked hike from the parking area up the mountain, which rises about 200 metres above its surroundings. From the summit there are extensive views along the crater row created during the Skaftáreldar eruptions of 1783–1784. Visitors must stay on marked trails because the moss-covered landscape is highly sensitive to trampling.
