The town sits in a deep fjord flanked by dramatic mountains and has a small harbour, grocery store, hotel and fish factory. It's one of the best spots in Iceland for orca sightings in winter, when killer whales chase herring into the fjord. The surrounding mountains offer excellent hiking.
