Faxi Waterfall (Vatnsleysufoss)

Faxi (also called Vatnsleysufoss) is a wide, horseshoe-shaped waterfall on the Tungufljót river near Reykholt on the Golden Circle. Less visited than Gullfoss but very photogenic, the waterfall spans about 80 metres and drops 7 metres in a broad curtain of white water. A salmon ladder on one side is particularly interesting in late summer (August–September) when Atlantic salmon can be seen jumping upstream. The surrounding area is peaceful farmland with mountain views.
