El Lava Show opera en unas instalaciones especialmente diseñadas en Old Harbour, con dos teatros de diferentes tamaños para espectáculos públicos y privados. La roca utilizada es auténtico basalto volcánico islandés, fundida en hornos industriales y vertida en canales de flujo especialmente diseñados frente al público sentado. La temperatura de la lava fundida supera los 1.100°C, comparable a la lava que fluye de una erupción volcánica real. Las medidas de seguridad incluyen asientos resistentes al calor y personal capacitado, pero la experiencia es deliberadamente cercana: no se trata de un espectáculo remoto visto a través de un cristal. El espectáculo de 30 minutos incluye una presentación de geología, el evento principal de vertido de lava, preguntas y respuestas de la audiencia y la oportunidad de tocar y conservar un pequeño trozo de lava solidificada como recuerdo. Es esencial reservar con mucha antelación: los espectáculos se agotan con regularidad, especialmente en verano.

El Lava Show se fundó en 2018 como una atracción permanente en Reykjavík, basándose en espectáculos experimentales anteriores desarrollados por sus fundadores después de las erupciones de 2010. The First Pour Moment
When the lava first hits the cold floor and the room fills with heat and light, there is always an involuntary intake of breath from the entire audience. No amount of preparation makes that moment expected.
The Souvenir Rock
The piece of solidified lava given to each visitor at the end is from the show itself — still warm when you receive it. It's a more meaningful souvenir than a stuffed puffin.
